You guys are all stupid the only person who could play Sherlock Holmes is Basil Rathbone. It does not get better than him.

I own them all, as well as all of the Brett stories on DVD

I recommend the later “Case book of Sherlock Holmes” – some brilliant short stories

I was lucky enough to read all the Sherlock Holmes books when I was about 13-14. I think it gives you such a different perspective on any “little problem”. Jeremy Brett is by far the best actor at this I’ve ever seen, his dull demure, whimsicle quips excellent.
Do yourself a favour all, go and read the books again!!!!!

The first Sherlock Holmes story is “A Study In Scarlet”.
You can probably find it online, but I’d recommend picking up an anthology if you can!

She doesnt mind, almost enjoys Holmes touching, but when the red headed ruffian gets close, she tries hard not to vomit.

For my money Hands down it was Jeremy Brett. However I believe it is a symptom of your upbringing as to whom you prefer. My grandmother swears by Basil Rathbone. But I like Brett’s portrayal best.

Jeremy Brett, for my vote. He personifies the character. I’ve been a fan for over six years, and I read the stories when I was a girl. I can’t read them now without picturing Brett’s lovely face.
He was and will always be the definitive Holmes in my mind. There’s nobody like him.

The finger tips are slightly flattened from constant use. That is what is meant by spatulate. As far as the “more spiritual look,” think of how your face would look if you were stuck doing something monotonous that you hate just to make a tiny amount of money. That would be the face of the typist. Miss Smith looks different because she does something she loves and has a deep connection with for a living.

spatulate finger ends? Ooooook. And of course the more spiritual look to the face. That makes sense. NOT.

I like Holmes stories that are improved over the Conan Doyle originals. The originals never make that much sense and put the emphasis on mood rather then plot. Holmes is a good character, but the mysteries are terrible. There are always impossible drugs and scientific contraptions, and I hate that.

the acting in this series always lacked ust slightly but the stories are too entertaining for that to matter

well, for me, Matt Frewer from The Sign of Four (2001).Because of him, i started becoming a fan of Sherlock Holmes. The moment I saw that movie on Hallmark channel, his character captured my eyes.. its like magical..im 14 by the way..so for my vote, its Matt Frewer.

“Miss Smith…I never guess.”
Ha! Bravo, Mr. Holmes.
